Diagnose/Prescribe: The Trace Erase Board™ makes it easy to tailor-make activities that will increase skill development.
MAKE YOUR OWN SKILL SHEETS: First, determine target skill(s). This can be anything from tracking L-R dashed lines, pictures, numeration, math problems, alphabetical order, spelling words, or algebraic equations. Next, print/write/draw letters, words, pictures, problems or questions - whatever is desired - on a blank sheet of paper. Place your skill sheet on the clipboard or Spiral Bound Skill Packet (skill packet acts as a boat) and insert into the unit. Practice tracing skills over the model sheet on the acrylic surface. Then, turn over to the White board and practice from memory without the model.
Allow children to TRACE - ERASE - REPEAT as often as necessary. This system allows children to take charge of the pace and progress of their own learning. Why? Because, they are motivated.
Teacher: See Trace-Erase Musical Chairs/Boards. Set up boards at your activity center. Develop specific diagnostic-prescriptive skill sheets for target students. Place skill sheets in an individual file folder with the child's name on the tab. Store the folders in a box. At times of your choosing, direct students to retrieve their folder to work on individual skills. This allows students to be engaged in diagnostic-oriented activities without extra demands on your time or disruption of the normal flow of the class.
Parent: Select basic skill sheets to do each morning after breakfast, waiting for the bus, going to the store, or traveling to Grandma's. Just a few minutes each day of organized practice may make a big difference. The Trace Erase Board is perfect for filling wasted moments spent in the car, waiting rooms, or lines with valuable educational activities that children enjoy. |
