Feel free to learn more of the many uses for the Trace Erase Board

Learning by Tracing...a fun activity which teaches basic 3-R skills. We all know kids learn faster, better, and more eagerly when they think it's a game!

  • Spend several minutes in "Group" introducing the TRACE ERASE BOARD and how it works.
  • Pre-assign groups. Each group has a designated leader (change weekly)
  • Have Boards set up before hand. Select skill sheets with similar association: e.g. letter family (with this activity students do not change skill sheets). Place a marker and a tissue with each board (for erasing).

  • Select your top group (modeling) for illustrating how activity (game) works while entire group observes. Have this group walk through process. Then have them practice several times on their own. Very shortly little or no teacher involvement time will be required.
  • Leader: Chair A - Sets timer (1-2 minute sand clock or dinger) and gives commands to begin, stop, move. (When moving take marker - but leave Board).
  • Children: TRACE, ERASE, and REPEAT their skill. Starting points and directions are given on skill sheets. After tracing 3 - 4 times on acrylic, turn unit over and practice without pattern on whiteboard. Then, return to pattern and repeat. Use this sequence until skill is mastered.
  • When cycle complete-leader signals stop, everyone erases both sides of the unit, returns caps to markers, and ruturns to group or seat work. Next group enters, etc, etc.

With this simple, yet motivating game, you will be able to quickly and systematically instruct your entire class with many different skills. Kids will be anticipating their turn totally motivated and alert. Keep sessions short and precise, fun but structured.
