Students

  • FINGER TAP and say each letter-sounds (c-a-t). Tap finger under letters (c a t) and say letter sounds aloud.
  • WORD SLIDE with hand - as word is pronounced, slide hand below and under the entrie word and say cat (movement reinforces sound blending and cognition).
 

 

 

  • Instruct students to close their eyes and trace and say c-a-t (cat) in the air (visualization). Word Slide and say the word cat in the air with hand.
   
  • Instruct students to erase word: c-a-t on letter at a time with their pointer finger (say the letter sound for each letter as they erase each letter). Word Slide and say the whole word aloud when entire word has been erased.
 

 

  • Instruct students to print and say word from memory on lines 1-3 at the bottom of the white marker board, then Finger Tap & Word Slide entire word as they say aloud c-a-t (cat).
